For the Love of Color

EXTERIOR PAINT PROJECT: FOR THE LOVE OF COLOR

It’s hard to visualize the entire exterior of your house a new color from a single paint chip sample. Repainting your house’s exterior is a big decision -- one that you’ll certainly want to get right the first time. Thankfully with the help of technology, Sherwin Williams Color Visualizer, makes it easy and fun to experiment with color. Or if you prefer to talk through the process with a professional, submit a Request For Quote to set up your free color consultation with the professionals at Makley Painting. Makley Painting guarantees quality work that will exceed your curb appeal expectations.

When looking at your choices of color, consider the paint color’s undertone. An undertone is the color which isn’t visible at first glance, but is the mixture of colors used that make up the color predominantly seen. The dominant color you see is called the mass tone. It’s best to view colors in context to what’s around them. If you are in doubt of a color’s undertone, pair it with different primary colors in order to see what undertone is revealed. This is especially helpful when your house has a section of stone or brick that will be left unpainted. You don’t have to match the stone or brick completely, but if the color you choose shares the same undertone as your brick or stone, it will coordinate nicely. However, if you are considering painting brick, check out our blog on “Painting Brick Exterior.”

We will now share a few stunning colors from Sherwin Williams for you to check out during your house painting project.

Tricorn Black (SW 6258)

Black exteriors are becoming increasingly popular for both residential homes and commercial buildings. With that said, darker facades are modern and unexpected.

Granite Peak (SW 6250)

Described as a blue, green color; it’s definitely a classy color you might have already seen on siding in neighborhoods around you.

Pewter Green (SW 6208)

Perfect for craftsman style homes--Pewter Green is natural and inviting. The color speaks for itself, and it’s one of our favorites.

Soji White (SW 7042)

Soji White is a warm white that doesn’t disappoint. It’s classic, not to mention, it’s one of Sherwin Williams’ Top 50 colors.

Alabaster (SW 7008)
Also, one of Sherwin Williams’ Top 50 colors, Alabaster is the perfect neutral color that pairs nicely with a pastel-colored front door.
